Harper Outduels Schwarber in Epic Final

Bryce Harper thrilled the hometown crowd at Nationals Park on Monday night, winning the 2018 MLB Home Run Derby in thrilling fashion. Harper defeated Kyle Schwarber in the final round, 19-18, to claim the title.

A Back-and-Forth Battle

Harper and Schwarber traded blows throughout the final round, with neither player able to gain a significant advantage. Schwarber took an early lead, hitting 13 home runs in his first two minutes. However, Harper responded with 14 home runs in his first two minutes, including a pair of 450-foot blasts.

The two continued to trade home runs down the stretch, with Harper ultimately prevailing. After Schwarber hit a 475-foot home run to tie the score at 18-18, Harper responded with a 460-foot home run to win the Derby.

Harper's Redemption

The victory was a redemption of sorts for Harper, who struggled at the plate during the regular season. Harper entered the Derby with a batting average of just .219, but he showed off his power in the Derby, hitting a total of 23 home runs.

Harper's victory was also a victory for the Washington Nationals, who have struggled this season. The Nationals are currently in last place in the NL East, but Harper's Derby win gave the team and its fans something to celebrate.
